Expert in the field of cultural policy making and governance at UNESCO

In 2011 he was appointed as an expert to UNESCO on the 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of Diversity of Cultural Expression. Subsequently he undertook two, out of a total of thirteen, technical assistance missions as part of an EU-funded programme. The first, in Buenos Aires, focused on the content for children sector (November 2011 to May 2012). The second, in Barbados, focused on interventions to support wider entrepreneurship in the cultural sector (June to October 2012). In both cases, key recommendations have already been taken up and are being implemented.
In 2004 created the Young Creative Entrepreneur award programme and network for the British Council, the network has members in fifty countries. Substantial experience of award judging and work with creative entrepreneurs and young people.
In 2009 created the Young Creative Entrepreneur Club, which operated in Bogota, Istanbul, London and Warsaw.
Extensive experience in policy making and mapping for the creative industries and creative economy. This includes work in a diverse range of environments, including Colombia, Estonia, India and Indonesia.
Significant experience of strategy development, having created the British Council’s first video games and creative economy strategies.
Extensive experience as an expert speaker at conferences and seminars in over 20 countries around the world.
